Parenting Gifted Children: Social and Emotional Characteristics
On Monday, December 7th at 7 PM in the Cary Junior High Band Room, the District Gifted Enrichment Team is hosting presenter, Michele Kane, Ed.D., professor and Coordinator of the Master of Arts in Gifted Education Program at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.

Text-A-Tip is an anonymous texting service that allows teens to find immediate help for themselves or a friend. The service targets middle and high school students, is available 24/7, is completely anonymous, and is staffed with trained, licensed counselors to support teenagers who have a concern or a crisis. To find out more information about this new service, please visit the Counseling Corner.

BARNES AND NOBLE BOOK FAIR
Cary Junior High will be hosting a Fall Book Fair this year at Barnes & Noble in Crystal Lake. The Book Fair will take place during Barnes & Noble's business hours from 9 AM-9 PM on Saturday, December 5th.
Any purchases made at the Crystal Lake Barnes & Noble will result in CJH receiving a percentage of the sales. Profits gained will be used to purchase books and resources for the CJH Learning Center. A vast selection of books, DVDs, CDs, games, puzzles, the Café, and other items are available for purchase. CJH will be providing a variety of activities throughout the day of the book fair at Barnes & Noble Additional information will be sent out within the next few weeks.
CJH STUDENT TRIVIA NIGHT
Gather a team of 4-6 CJH students to participate in our first trivia night on Friday, December 4th, 6:00 PM until approximately 8:00 PM.
There will be questions including the following 6 categories: sports, history, music, pictures, food, and entertainment. There are ten questions in each category plus a bonus round to finish the night. Use of all electronic devices will be prohibited. The winning team will receive special seating and snacks at the second quarter assembly.
The cost is $3 per person with all proceeds are being used to purchase toys for Toys for Tots!
Your team form and all money must be turned in together to Ms. Miller in B20 by Wednesday, December 2nd.
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
The 2015-2016 Battle of the Books competition is underway. Open to all CJH 6th-8th graders, students will read a collection of pre-selected books and train for the Jeopardy-style final battle in January. There are after school meetings at CJH and evening meetings at the Cary Area Library for all interested students. The CJH group meetings will take place from 2:50-3:50 on the following dates:
Tuesday, 12/1 and Wednesday, 12/2

Please collect and turn in your Box Tops and help raise money for CJH. Students should turn Box Tops into their homeroom teacher by the following collection dates: January 29th and May 20th.
