DRAGON DAY ACTIVITY (2/25/15)
Today, the students of Cary Junior High participated in one of our weekly, DRAGON Days. The lesson was titled, “Are You Part of the In-Crowd?” and focused on exploring ways to bridge social boundaries at our school. The objectives included having students describe and label group names and to reflect on the impact of these social hierarchies. The ultimate goal was to develop and implement a plan for reducing these social boundaries here at Cary Junior High. Sensitive, but extremely relevant words were used to help reduce the stigma of labeling. Students’ role-played and a discussion took place on how to reduce the stigma of labeling one another. These activities will tie into our anti-bullying initiative and work hand-in-hand with our new School Safety Ambassadors (SSA) program.
